The best judges of any business are their clientele. Ask them about us. 80% of our guests last year were either repeat clients or people who were referred by past clients. In 2008 and 2009, 15 of 30 weeks were returning guests. Eight additional weeks were guest referred to Alaska Yacht Charters by previous clients. No other charter company in Alaska can claim such a loyal following. We will be happy to provide you with a list of our clients. After over 20 years in Alaska and after hosting over two thousand guests, it is likely that we can provide you with someone living just around the corner from you.
Our Experience
Geoff and Debbie Wilson have chartered in Alaska for over 20 years. Alaska is what we do. Because we own Alaska Yacht Charters and the Alaskan Story, we take extraordinary pride in our product. Because we appreciate quality and luxury, we can provide them for you.
Total Comfort
The Alaskan Story is a safe, fast, tastefully decorated and a very comfortable yacht. She has a Naiad Stabilization system. The Alaskan Story has large interior spaces with great visibility and covered decks for watching wildlife if the weather turns bad. The staterooms are big and bright with individual temperature controls for heat and air-conditioning. You are pampered with feather beds and down comforters and pillows. Each stateroom has its own bathroom and shower. The Alaskan Story was designed by us and is a result of our experience chartering in Alaska for the past twenty years. The Alaskan Story is built and maintained to "yacht" quality. She was built not to provide for the most passengers, but to provide the most for our passengers.
Alaskan Fishing on the Alaskan Story
One of the great thrills we offer our guests is the opportunity to catch a mighty king salmon or a gigantic halibut from the cockpit of the Alaskan Story. On our yacht, you can fish from our Boston Whaler outfitted with down-riggers, radio, fishfinder and new Honda 4-cycle outboard. Or, if you prefer, you can fish without ever leaving the comfort and convenience of your yacht. You can sit on a covered rear deck and troll for salmon with the crew who, while catering to all your needs, net and clean your catch for you. We only serve seafood that you, your friends or one of the crew caught - probably hours earlier.
Cuisine
Everything served will be the freshest available. Of course, the food is exquisite; truly a highlight of every day - comparable to the finest of restaurants. We feature some of Debbie's recipes here on our website on her cookbook page.
Permits
Taking passengers for hire in Alaska requires the vessel to be American built (or specially exempted by Congress). Permits and insurance are required for any crew going ashore with clients. These rules are for your protection. We are a business licensed by the State of Alaska. We have all the permits required by the Alaska State Department of Fish and Game and the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service for guiding clients in Tongas National Forest (90% of Southeast Alaska). Many other charter boats in Southeast Alaska do not. We also have unique permits allowing us to charter in Glacier Bay.
Alaska Yacht Charters is operated under special use permit with the Tongass National Forest.
